When it comes to online sportsbooks, there’s a variety of bets that can be placed on sports in general and on football specifically.
Straight Bets :
The team that you’ve bet for has to win the game by – at minimum – the same point spread that was set at the time of the bet placing.
Totals Bets (i.e. Over/Under bets):
With this type of bet, bettors place bets on the total, combined score of both teams. An example of a totals bet is “will the total point of the game be over or under 31?”
Money Line Wagers:
You win the bet if the team that you’ve bet on simply wins the game.
Parlays
A multi-selection bet of two or more game selections.
Teasers
A bet on 2 or more teams where the point spread is adjusted in your favor.
Future Book Wagers:
A bet that’s placed on an future event. One really popular type of future and under / over bet hybrid is based on the total number of wins for a given team across an entire season.
Side / Proposition Bets
Side or proposition bets are basically any other type of bet. Here are some examples of side / propositions bets:
* Which team will be the first to score.
* Which team will be the last to score.
* Which team will be ahead by halftime.
